Clinical Study of Skin Grafts in Burned Patients 108 Cases



Abstract
108 cases of the skin graft in burned patients had been treated during 15 years (Jan. 1960-Dec. 1974) at surgical depart of National Medical Center, were studied and summarized as followings;
1. Most abundant age group was 15 days and the eldest, 68-year-old. Male was more abundant than female; the, ratio was, 1.6 to 1.
2. Most case of burn was caused by flame 62. 0%) and scalding (28.7%). An abundant group, of flame burn was from 10 year-old to 29.
3. The cases of positive pus culture were 61 cases (56.4%) and the negative, 47 cases (43.6%). The most common bacteria were. Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas; proteus in that order of frequency.
4. Most cases, grafted were not influenced by infected organisms except (3-hemolytic stre-ptococcus, 4 cases, which were denuded in graft.
5. 22 (88%) of 25 cases grafted within 4 within 4 weeks from injury were succeeded, however, 55 (66.6%) of 83 cases, delaying graft over 4 weeks were satisfactory.
6. The most location of skin grafts were lower extremity (53.7%), trunk (18.5%) and upper ext. (14.8%) in that order of frequency. There was no relationship between the success of skin grafting and the location.
7. In patients with anemia, it was partial take of the grafts, while it was successful take of the grafts in patients with normal range of Hag.
